Magnificent 10 competition over at Shutterstock

Posted in Uncategorized on March 16th, 2008 by Administrator

This March several groups of photographers and illustrators have decided to have casual competitions. Contest range in size and scope, but all of them are going on right now. I’m currently part of the ‘Magnificent 10′ contest. All ten of us are building our image collections on the site all month.

We’re competing in several areas:
-Total number of downloads in March.
-Total number of NEW images in March.
-Percent growth of downloads from February to March.
-Percent of portfolio growth from February to March.

The competition was set up by a photographer named Matt Antonino who set it all up, laid out the rules above for us, and is one of the competitors.

The competition now, two weeks through, has been amazing. I’ve added about 75 images to my collection. I’m planning to double my total collect before March ends. I’ve already doubled my earnings from last month. Also the constant building of images has increased my ability to create vectors.

The competitor image collections are linked below:

Melissa Patton (mine) – illustrations – design elements, vectors, backgrounds, 3d

Matt Antonio – photography – people, photo backgrounds, some of everything

Aelius Aaron – illustrations – bright abstracts, fx images, and backgrounds

Ulrich Willmünder – photography and footage (extensive collection)

Paul Turner – photography and vector illustration

Emil Vasilev Iliev – photography – emphasis on food photography

Ed Phillips – photography – including nature and photographic backgrounds

APaterson – photography – isolations, graffiti on walls, some of everything

B.G. Smith – photography – business people, food, landscapes, some of everything

Yan Zverev – photography – locations, isolations, food

I’ll post some images, more links, and ideas that I’m testing out in the next post.
